La puntata #53 di Area Contaminata è interamente dedicata a “Power Corruption and Lies”, secondo album dei New Order, datato 1983, del quale è appena uscito un box set celebrativo. Uno dei dischi più importanti degli anni ’80, perfetta sintesi tra post-punk ed elettronica dove le chitarre si mescolano perfettamente con i sequencers e i synths.  “Power Corruption and Lies” ha messo insieme gli elementi che hanno definito il suono dei New Order nelle decadi a venire e a 37 anni dalla sua uscita suona ancora fresco come allora.

Area Contaminata ritorna dopo la pausa estiva con la puntata #49, nella quale Alberto Simoni propone una serie di tracce dalle quali emerge ancora da protagonista, nonostante la sua recente scomparsa, la figura di Andrew Weatherall.  Nella seconda parte della trasmissione spazio ad alcuni nomi storici della new wave elettronica anni ’80 come Dave Ball, del quale è stata pubblicata recentemente l’autobiografia,  New Order e The The, entrambi usciti con nuovi singoli.
